Get DISTURBED.....

Hello everyone......

The atmosphere here in Rockonomy is going to be heavy...because DISTURBED is here....

Disturbed is an American Heavy Metal Rock, nu-metal band....
The band is relatively new, formed in 1996....but it has met incredible achievements in this short span of time...

Originally Disturbed was called Brawl including guitarist Dan Donegan, drummer Mike Wengren and bassist Steve Kmak and vocalist Erich Awalt...when Erich left the band..the other three members went on advertising and found new face for their band....David Draiman.....

It was David draiman who renamed the band to Disturbed...why???
when David was asked about it...Draiman said, "It had been a name I have been contemplating for a band for years. It just seems to symbolize everything we were feeling at the time. The level of conformity that people are forced into was disturbing to us and we were just trying to push the envelope and the name just sorta made sense."

After starting off as Disturbed....the band launched their debut album...The Sickness in 2000...

The Sickness featured some of the coolest heavy metal songs..including Down With The sickness which was the catch at every radio station....topping several charts The sickness was in top 50 at Billboard bringing Disturbed a huge fan following immediately....

After the sickness..Disturbed also gave music to WWE's Stone Cold Steve Austin...remember the bald guy in WWE who kicks every opponent's a@# in the ring and drinks beer afterwards...well his music "The Glass Shatters"is given and composed by Disturbed....

In 2001...Disturbed got the privileged to be on a tour with some great rock bands like Black Sabbath, linkin Park,Papa Roach etc.....in ozzy osbourne's ozzfest....
immediately after that Disturbed also joined Marilyn Manson's tour...

In 2002...after a documentary DVD on the band...Disturbed released a new studio album...Believe...the album topped the billboard chart and shooted up to peak position of #1....after the increasing popularity Disturbed went on many tours in the following years of believe....

The band didn't stop here....Disturbed released its third studio album proving to be platinum and again topping the chart to #1 position..Ten thousand fists...the album featues some of great numbers like Hell ...Stricken and more.....
This album released in 2005 was the second Disturbed album to peak the position #1 on billboard...the album brought some more fan following and a lot of tours ahead.....the band toured in various places with many rock legends and heavy metal stars.....

Till now disturbed was quite popular with their metal thing in their tracks and some head turning licks in certain numbers....

Disturbed launched their fourth and latest album....which also peaked the billboard chart at #1 position making it their third consecutive album to do so....
the album called Indestructible was launched in 2007....the same album available at Rockonomy for free contains some awesome tracks and singles like the night...perfect insanity...torn..inside the fire and many more....

The band has been compared to some great bands like Metallica...U2...for their metal essence....all the tracks of Disturbed have outrageous heavy metal feel and some of the brilliant licks and leads in them....
due to the great music that disturbed produces...they have been signed in for the ROCK BAND game....some of their tracks are featured in that game....

Although there have been some questions over the genre of music where people think that they are not really enough metal...the band has cleared off the air quite smoothly by stating some quotes like...

"We probably have too much melody going on or we're not quite as turbulent or caustic. While I really love that type of music, it's not what we try to do. If we have to place things in context, we're more hard rock than heavy metal these days."

"The secret is that we were never really part of any particular trend, although we definitely benefited from the popularity of what was called nu-metal at the time," Draiman says. "We never had the stereotypical attributes that those bands had. We don’t rap; there’s no turntable involved; no fusion in that respect. We play, in my opinion, classic metal. [Black] Sabbath, [Iron] Maiden, [Judas] Priest, Metallica, Pantera: These are the bands that made us want to play"

Anyway whatever be their genre..we just know that they create awesome rock music and some of the tracks are my personal favorite....

Well the band member composition goes like this....

Current

David Draiman – lead vocals (1996–present)
Dan Donegan – lead guitar (1996–present)
John Moyer – bass guitar (2004–present)
Mike Wengren – drums (1996–present)

Metal mania with ...METALLICA....

Hello everyone.....

Rockonomy has brought a real treat for every metal fan...METALLICA...name says it all....its one of the oldest and yet Greatest metal bands in rock history....
Metallica is basically a thrash metal..speed metal and Hardrock band...

The band formed in 1981 in California,US by the drummer of the band Lars Ulrich...
the members are the same as they were in 1981 except the bassist of the band..
Metallica has gone through a plenty of bassists in the past....

Metallica started off by playing instrumentals and fast tempos musicianships...
Earlier band had Dave Mustain as lead guitarist but he later dissociated to form Megadeath after having conflicts with Hetfield....

The Band started playing live somewhere in 1982...they had a compilation named Metal Massacre which wasn't released actually but they performed certain tracks from it...
Metallica boomed up in 1983 with the launch of Kill 'em All....a wonderful album giving some super hit tracks like Hit the Lights(from Metal Massacre), Seek n Destroy...Motorbreath( my personal favorite from the album)..etc....

The album wasn't a financial success but it surely brought a lot of lime light to Metallica...

Band was a huge hit after the release of this album and started influencing the metal bands in US and UK....
It becomes more clear from the fact that the tours of Metallica with Bon Jovi and some other artists in England recorded a foot fall of 60k-70k....that's sure a huge gathering....

But this wasn't enough...in 1986 with the launch of Master of Puppets..the band was among the top artists....album stayed on billboard top 200 for whopping 72 weeks....some say it was their greatest achievements till date... I think they are right in saying so....

In the same year 1986..there was sad demise of the bassist of the band...Clifford Burton in a bus accident where rest of members survived...
after the demise of Burton...band released two more album...Garage Days ReRevisited and Cliff 'em All...paying tribute to the lost bassist and band member...

Some how band continued on the metal path and achieved more glory during
1988 for ...And Justice For All....it was a commercial success...also the album contains some breath taking speed metal solos and numbers like ..One and Blackened.....that'll blow your head away....
It was followed by the album Metallica...featuring tracks like Nothing Else Matters and Enter Sandman which later fetched them a Grammy...it was during this album..when Hetfield got seriously burnt due to a technical fault in a tour with GnR.....
but the band continued to rock like they always did with guitar technician filling up for Hetfield...

The band grabbed 6 more Grammys with the albums like Load...Reload...St.Anger.. containing some awesome tracks and instrumentals like The Call Of Ktulu...Whiskey in the Jar..My Apocalypse..etc...

Until their latest album Death Magnetic featuring some brilliant tracks like The day that never comes..That was just your life and..The judass Kiss which also received a Grammy making their toll rise to...9 Grammys..
Apart from Grammys..Metallica also bagged several MTV awards and Billboard Awards....

All the tracks by the band consist of immense metal effect..those who just love to hear some distortion..Metallica is your band...The guitar licks are just out of this worls..like in Call Of Ktulu..That was just your life..Master of Puppets etc...

Metallica has given many rocking performances in their tours and concerts like rGuitar Hero tour and Live Earth concert...check out their videos to see the passion among people for Metallica

The band went through a number of bassists and the member stats of the band goes like this..:

Current

James Hetfield – lead vocals, rhythm guitar (1981–present)
Kirk Hammett – lead guitar, backing vocals (1983–present)
Robert Trujillo – bass guitar, backing vocals (2003–present)
Lars Ulrich – drums, percussion (1981–present)

Former

Dave Mustaine – lead guitar, backing vocals (1981–1983)
Cliff Burton – bass guitar, backing vocals (1982–1986)
Jason Newsted – bass guitar, backing vocals (1986–2001)

Aerosmith....

Hello everyone....
"The bad boys from boston" are here on Rockonomy...
we are talking about Aerosmith, an American hard rock band formed in 1970 in boston,US.

They have been called been called America's greatest rock band as they outperformed everyone else when it came to Rock n Roll ( actually it's my personal view considering their early albums)...

Their music is an interesting blend of blues and pop elements in rock and heavy metal....

Talking about the band history and early days...
Joe Perry and Tom Hamilton formed a band JAM BAND...which eventually evolved into Aerosmith when Steven Tyler and Ray Tabano joined in...
Ray Tabano was replaced by Brad Whitford in next year....

The band formation story becomes even more interesting by the facts that Steven Tyler played with a series of unsuccessful bands before joining into Aerosmith...and Joe Perry...he washed dishes when he was in JAM Band....
The band became quite popular from the very beginning attracting a huge number of crowd in their live shows...they performed in various places under various popular covers...

Their first album was AEROSMITH....selling over 2 million copies, the album was a huge hit....and achieved gold status quite early which later on transformed to double platinum status!!!!!!...it showed the blues rock magic of Aerosmith...

In the period of 1973-1980..they launched their four new studio albums...Get Your Wings..Toys in Attic..Rocks..Draw the Line and Night In The Ruts....all of them topped the billboard and were sold like hot cakes.....
This was the period when Aerosmith showed some of its hard rock magic over blues and pop rock....

The band was an inspiration for bands like Guns n Roses and Metallica...
But after the release of these albums...Aerosmith suffered  two back to back blows...
Joe Perry and Brad Whitford departed from the band citing the problems like Drug issues and differences with Steven Tyler...
they were replaced by Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay....

But in 1984..an interesting turn came when Aerosmith was performing on a tour....the band reunited and Perry and Brad whitford returned to the band....

The summary of band members is like this...:

Current members

Steven Tyler - lead vocals, piano, harmonica, percussion (1970–present)
Joe Perry - lead and rhythm guitar, backing vocals (1970–1979; 1984–present)
Brad Whitford - rhythm and lead guitar (1971–1981; 1984–present)
Tom Hamilton - bass guitar, backing vocals (1970–present)
Joey Kramer - drums, percussion (1970–present)

Former members

Ray Tabano - rhythm and lead guitar, backing vocals (1970–1971)
Jimmy Crespo - lead and rhythm guitar, backing vocals (1979–1984)
Rick Dufay - rhythm and lead guitar (1981–1984)

The band went under drug rehab program which was quite successful....

When they reunited..Steven Tyler quoted-

"You should have felt the buzz the moment all five of us got together in the same room for the first time again. We all started laughin'—it was like the five years had never passed. We knew we'd made the right move."

They again started creating their trademark music and rock after reuniting releasing some of some awesome albums like....Rock in Hard Place..Done with Mirrors...Pump( 7x platinum)..Get a Rip( 7x platinum)..Nine Lives..etc...
They toured again like they did earlier....also featured in Guitar Hero tour
Aerosmith has given some of the wonderful singles like...Sweet Emotion..Dream On...Walk this way...Rag Doll...Love in Elevator which are just amazing and its shown in their billboard positions...

To mention about the awards and achievements...Aerosmith won their first Grammy award, for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal went on to win a total of four such awards (all of them in the 1990s) for "Janie's Got a Gun", "Livin' on the Edge", "Crazy", and "Pink".

Aerosmith is also the all-time leader in the categories Best Rock Video (with four such awards) and Viewer's Choice (with three such awards)
Aerosmith has also collected seven American Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, two People's Choice Awards, sixteen Boston Music Awards

Aerosmith music is something different as you can sense i their albums...even the album like Nine Lives(1997)...it contains some awesome and wonderful tracks like...Something Gotta Give and Ain't That a Bitch..with some extraordinary lyrics and brilliant licks....

Well talking about the first album Aerosmith..which is available here for you for free...the album made Aerosmith so popular that they started hitting top of the charts from the very beginning..tracks and singles like..Dream On and Mama Kin received a lot of appreciation and are extraordinary pieces of music....
The album as before mentioned gives a rocking blend of blues with rock....
So go on and download the album to feel the essence of Aerosmith in you:

......Led Zeppelin's Zeppo effect.......

Hello all Rock n Roll fans....

Rockonomy is back with one more treat for you...
this time its the legend of Rock..

LED ZEPPELIN.......

Heartthrob of millions and greatest of all rock bands..the legend..the trend setter..the musician par excellence...

This English Rock band was formed way back in 1968...was called The Yardbirds..but it had only one member of the future band Led Zeppelin...Jimmy Page.

The Yardbirds ended up in 1968 only..after playing his last gig with Yardbirds,Jimmy Page contacted several musicians, like The Who,Terry Reid, etc to form a band with him..

But eventually by somehow Jimmy Page got the people who were not so famous but played some good rock music..

The members were:

Jimmy Page:Guitar
John Paul John:Bass Guitar,Keyboards
Robert Plant:Vocals
John Bonham:Drums

Who constituted Led Zeppelin in 1969...

They superbly infused Rock with Country,Indian,Latin,Folk,Blues and other forms of music...and guess what??..the recipe worked.....

Led Zeppelin stated with a bang...always showing off..they flew in private jets...wore flashy and out of the world type of clothes...created havoc in hotels they stayed etc...

They released their first album by the name Led Zeppelin in 1969...
but their first live performance was before the release of their album..
So you can see how much they were liked by the Rock n Roll fans...

1970-1977 were the most crucial years for the band because these were the years when they launched their Best of the Best albums and gave tremendous live performances..

After the success of first three albums,LZ released their fourth album, called by various names like Led Zeppelin IV,The Fourth album,Man with Sticks,Four Symbols etc etc....

That album was immensely successful getting millions of dollars to the band along with numerous awards...

The Most popular solo of all time Stairway to Heaven is featured in fourth album..I say if you haven't listened to Stairway to Heaven then you haven't heard rock music....tracks like Black Dog,Misty Mountain, etc were also a hit....

The band had contemporaries like The Who,The Rolling Stones as competitors for the best band of all time and guess what??...

Led Zeppelin are ranked #1 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock...
also..
Rolling Stone magazine has described Led Zeppelin as "the heaviest band of all time"  and   "the biggest band of the '70s"

Led Zeppelin IV was followed by Houses of the Holy...and Physical Graffiti and Presence...bringing them to top 200 track lists...

Unfortunately after Presence..in 1980...their was sudden demise of John Bonham..dissolving the band...

After that surviving members released some of their songs from the Led Zeppelin career and live performances and sometimes reunited in 1985,2007 for some concerts for good causes and charity....

It cannot be ignored that they are one of the greatest bands ever, and to honor them they were awarded with Grammy Awards....

LZ also contributed to many other media sources like movies and comics by featuring their compositions in movies like..School of Rock,Shrek etc....

Talking about the album we are giving i.e LP 1...

Album is a wonderful blend of Soulful lyrics and awesome Rhythm Guitar...drums are also mesmerising....tracks like Black Mountain and Good Times Bad Times will really take you to a Rock ride...but my personal recommendation will be with Babe,I'm Gonna Leave You...what a song...a must listen...

Download the album to get some taste of LZ below.....

Green Day......

Hello Everyone....
Rockonomy is back with some punk rock...
This is not the oldest punk rock band but still one of the most popular ones....

We are talking about Green Day...the punk rock band from California,US..
The band formed way back in 1987 in California by the trio:

Joe Armstrong- Vocals and guitar
Mike Dirnt- Bass guitar and backing vocals
Tre Cool- Drums and Percussion

Later musicians like:

Jason White – lead & rhythm guitars, backing vocals (1999–present)
Jason Freese – keyboards, piano, acoustic guitar, trombone, saxophone, accordion, backing vocals (2003–present)
Ronnie Blake – trumpet, timpani, percussion, backing vocals (2004–present)
Mike Pelino – rhythm guitars, backing vocals (2004–present)
joined in....

We are not going to talk about the labels and companies they worked for,I am going to tell you what made them so famous,
They formed their own band at an early age of 15 or 17,they named it Sweet Children,It was the same band which changed to Green Day..you know why??....
because they have fetish of marijuana and Green Day has meaning somewhat similar to it.....

Well.. talking about their Discography, their first album was 39/smooth...
But the album which really brought them fame and made them a hit was DOOKIE....in 1994...what an album I must say...A real treat for Punk lovers....
Tracks like Welcome To Paradise,Burnout,Coming Clean, and Longview are really cool......

Dookie was a major hit in US breaking all records and selling millions of copies there....

Talking about their music styles, they are often compared to Sex Pistols and The Jam...but believe me,they are really different....
Green Day compositions include Distorted Guitar as a major part and heavy bass accompanying it ....

What i like most about Green Day is their lyrics, one thing you have to believe is they are really good songwriters....

Coming back to albums, the covers like Warning and Nimrod did fairly on the charts but their album in 2004: AMERICAN IDIOT....is the most amazing album by Green Day.....
making them famous majorly among the youth.....
tracks like AMERICAN IDIOT,Boulevard of Broken Dreams,Give Me Novocaine,Wake Me Up When September Ends. topped the charts and were liked by all.....

this was the album which fetched them numerous awards including THE GRAMMY....MTV awards...JUNO awards and many more...with the Boulevard of Broken Dreams winning as best song(rock)...
In total Green Day bagged 35 awards while being nominated for 71....

Although American Idiot is an awesome album but we are here giving DOOKIE....their latest album:Breakdown will also be reviewed here soon........
If you haven't seen much Green Day videos, then i must advice you to do so because their music videos are really cool....you"ll see Joe Armstrong wearing KAAJAL(carbon black or eyeliner) every time, pretty cool.....
Green Day has really made punk famous and still spreading the magic of punk....

Download the cool album to feel the punk they have got in them:

Knock Knock....THE WHO is there......

Hello Everyone......
Rockonomy is back again....This time its another legendary rock band...THE WHO...
the band was formed in 1964...actually the band was formed way earlier in 1962 end but at that time they were known as The Detours.....
The band members gathered together and formed a band and created a music which was liked by one and all......

They are among the earliest rock bands and the most influential ones......
in their music...you will see an awsome use of bass guitar and drums....atleast i think so....although the band created some numbers in 1962-63 but their official album was released in 1965..My Generation...sensational album..creating a lot of buzz in US...and right from the very first album...they topped the charts like hell......

No one could have thought that a band who played in pubs and clubs can go to world tours...yea....their music was liked and appreciated too such an extent that they went on world tours and their tours were one of most crowd pullers among the other rock bands......

The Detours played mainly blues...but almost all the albums by THE WHO were hardrock....

THE WHO have been called "The Godfathers of Punk"....and the influence of the band was such, thet during each show they used to destruct their instruments....

With the departure of Pete Townshend....The band dissociated in 1980s and reunioned later in late 80s.....after which they  were awarded with the British Phonographic Industry's Lifetime Achievement Award...and thats not all....they have bagged Grammy awards for many of their numbers like...My Generation...and Who's next.....

While talking of their first album My Generation....one has to mention about the tracks like...Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere....I Can't Explain....I'm A Boy....Pinball Wizard...really good songs with tremendous drums and fascinating bass guitars and obviously vocals are beyond words.......After listening to the album one may be fooled that it is the starting of hardrock...and if so happens let me tell you its not foolishness...it is the start of hardrock.......

Talking about the band members and their influence....

Roger Daltrey - lead guitar, vocals,(later lead vocals)
Pete Townshend - guitar, vocals
John Entwistle - bass, vocals(1962-2002)

were the members who were there in THE WHO right from the begining....
where as members like:

Kenney Jones - drums
Zak Starkey - drums
John "Rabbit" Bundrick - keyboards

joined the band later.....well many came and went but THE WHO is still among the greatest rock bands ever.....

If you are a rock fan...you ought to listen each number of this cover...and believe me...its brilliant.....

so what are you waiting for...download the album My generation..and rock on the tunes and rhythm of legendary the who.......

THE WHO album and article brought to you exclusively by Rockonomy.....

p.s:This is not done with THE WHO...Next time a new article will be there with yet another wonderful album of the legendary THE WHO.....

Till then enjoy the video..
