Hello all Rock n Roll fans....
Rockonomy is back with one more treat for you...
this time its the legend of Rock..
LED ZEPPELIN.......
Heartthrob of millions and greatest of all rock bands..the legend..the trend setter..the musician par excellence...
This English Rock band was formed way back in 1968...was called The Yardbirds..but it had only one member of the future band Led Zeppelin...Jimmy Page.
The Yardbirds ended up in 1968 only..after playing his last gig with Yardbirds,Jimmy Page contacted several musicians, like The Who,Terry Reid, etc to form a band with him..
But eventually by somehow Jimmy Page got the people who were not so famous but played some good rock music..
The members were:
Jimmy Page:Guitar
John Paul John:Bass Guitar,Keyboards
Robert Plant:Vocals
John Bonham:Drums
Who constituted Led Zeppelin in 1969...
They superbly infused Rock with Country,Indian,Latin,Folk,Blues and other forms of music...and guess what??..the recipe worked.....
Led Zeppelin stated with a bang...always showing off..they flew in private jets...wore flashy and out of the world type of clothes...created havoc in hotels they stayed etc...
They released their first album by the name Led Zeppelin in 1969...
but their first live performance was before the release of their album..
So you can see how much they were liked by the Rock n Roll fans...
1970-1977 were the most crucial years for the band because these were the years when they launched their Best of the Best albums and gave tremendous live performances..
After the success of first three albums,LZ released their fourth album, called by various names like Led Zeppelin IV,The Fourth album,Man with Sticks,Four Symbols etc etc....
That album was immensely successful getting millions of dollars to the band along with numerous awards...
The Most popular solo of all time Stairway to Heaven is featured in fourth album..I say if you haven't listened to Stairway to Heaven then you haven't heard rock music....tracks like Black Dog,Misty Mountain, etc were also a hit....
The band had contemporaries like The Who,The Rolling Stones as competitors for the best band of all time and guess what??...
Led Zeppelin are ranked #1 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock...
also..
Rolling Stone magazine has described Led Zeppelin as "the heaviest band of all time" and "the biggest band of the '70s"
Led Zeppelin IV was followed by Houses of the Holy...and Physical Graffiti and Presence...bringing them to top 200 track lists...
Unfortunately after Presence..in 1980...their was sudden demise of John Bonham..dissolving the band...
After that surviving members released some of their songs from the Led Zeppelin career and live performances and sometimes reunited in 1985,2007 for some concerts for good causes and charity....
It cannot be ignored that they are one of the greatest bands ever, and to honor them they were awarded with Grammy Awards....
LZ also contributed to many other media sources like movies and comics by featuring their compositions in movies like..School of Rock,Shrek etc....
Talking about the album we are giving i.e LP 1...
Album is a wonderful blend of Soulful lyrics and awesome Rhythm Guitar...drums are also mesmerising....tracks like Black Mountain and Good Times Bad Times will really take you to a Rock ride...but my personal recommendation will be with Babe,I'm Gonna Leave You...what a song...a must listen...
Download the album to get some taste of LZ below.....
The album and article brought to you exclusively by Rockonomy.....
p.s:This is not done with the legendary LED ZEPPELIN,Rockonomy will return with some more albums by this great band with a new article, till then keep rocking....
